| General Info: |
Agate (achates) was named from the river Achates, now the Drillo, in Sicily, where the stone was first identified. It is cryptocrystalline quartz (micro crystals) usually with a banded pattern (although not always). |
| Additional Information |
| A solid agate with a purple (amethyst?) base and golden colored moss. This agate takes a great polishh and the moss does not undercut like some moss. Cabs cut by author.
This agate has also been used as a frame for other materials ... see blue lace and carter mountain. In the final cab it was used as the center and blue lace used to frame it.
