General Info: The name is derived from the greek "rose color". The name has the same derivation as does rhodochrosite.
Additional Information
The rough for these cabochons was found in the Mojave desert of California. It often shows spider web like patterns in black. The black is usually manganese oxide. Rhodonite is a lilicate and hsas much higer stability than rhodochrosite (a carbonate).

The first three stones are doublets with thin agate backs, and the third is entirely rhodonite.
