General Info: The name is derived from the German "quarz" of uncertain origin. It was called "krystallos" by the Greeks, but this later became the generic term for crystal.
Additional Information
The red horn coral (first stone) is from Utah. The second stone is from a slab of fossilized coral from Indonesia. These two stones cut by the author. Fossilized coral started as a calcium carbonate but ended up as a silicate through a slow replacement process.
