The name is derived from the German "quarz" of uncertain origin. It was called "krystallos" by the Greeks, but this later became the generic term for crystal. |

| This is one of my favorite cuts, it makes the light swirl around the center of the stone as it is rocked from side to side. Cut by the author, this stone in well over 3/4" across. The design can be found in several places, but this one taken form a Vargas book. You won't find it cut very often as it has so many facets. |
