The generic term "feldspar" comes from the Germanic term "feldt spat", meaning "mineral with prominent cleavage from the field". It was a prime constituent of many of the rocks over turned by farmers while plowing their fields. The feldspars are made up of three fundamental members and a wide number of chemical mixtures. |

| The color in Oregon sunstone comes from copper inclusions. Many of the oregon sunstones come with two bands of color, a green outter band with a red inner band. Sometimes there is only a green or red band. This stone was cut from rough with a larger green band It is pale green with some reddish highlights. |
