By using software that has controls of the codec, it is possible to further reduce the file size at a fixed frame rate and image size. The control is a setting of bandwidth. It is related to how fast the file will be transmitted over the internet. By turning the band width down the file size is also reduced, but so is the image quality. In this case it is similar to the numerical setting associated with the still image JPEG format.
In this first example I turned the bandwidth down to 512K from the 1774K of the original. Notice the reduced file size. |

There is some image quality loss in this image, but it is still not too bad. It is right on the border of acceptable.
Bandwidth setting 256K
file size: 307K |

By the time we set the bandwidth to 100 KBPS (kilobytes per second) the quality is gone and the movie is no longer useable.
Bandwidth setting 100K
file size: 116K |
