Home Made Box
You can buy a light box or you can make one for a few dollars. Use a light under a large white or translucent box. In this case I cut a hole in the edge of the box so the light could be slid in.

THe object being photographed needs a small opaque square of material placed under it in most cases. I often use a small 2"x2" piece of foam-core board with a felt square on top. Felt is not sufficient, by itself, to block the light coming from below.

Important ... do not use a colored or tinted box below, it will color the light and make color correction more of a challenge.
